Product Overview

This product is a waterproofing membrane made by impregnating a base fabric with elastomer (SBS) or thermoplastic (such as ASP, APAO, etc.) modified asphalt, coating both sides with elastomeric or plastomeric modified asphalt, and surfacing with fine sand, mineral granules (or flakes), or polyethylene film.
It offers excellent waterproofing and aging resistance, along with features such as high-temperature flow resistance, low-temperature flexibility, easy construction, and long service life.
Widely used in waterproofing, moisture resistance, vapor barrier, and anti-seepage applications for roofs, basements, bathrooms, bridges, parking lots, swimming pools, tunnels, and reservoirs in industrial and civil buildings, as well as in maintenance projects for various types of roofs. SBS modified asphalt waterproofing membrane is particularly suitable for building waterproofing in cold regions and areas with frequent structural deformation, while modified asphalt waterproofing membrane is ideal for building waterproofing in high-temperature areas with strong solar radiation.

Construction Key Points

Basic Requirements: The substrate must be level, clean, and dry, with a moisture content of less than 9%. Apply a primer evenly to the substrate surface and allow it to dry before construction.
Installation Sequence and Direction: Install from high to low spans first; for the same height, install from far to near; on the same plane, start installation from the lowest point. For slopes less than 3%, install parallel to the ridge; for slopes between 3% and 15%, install parallel or perpendicular to the ridge; for slopes greater than 15%, install perpendicular to the ridge.
Installation Methods:
Hot Melt Method: Use a flame torch or other heating tools to evenly heat the underside of the membrane and the substrate. When the surface asphalt begins to melt and appears black and glossy, install the membrane while heating, and compact it with a roller. Adjust the flame size and speed to maintain the asphalt temperature between 200°C and 250°C. After installation, seal the overlapping edges with cold adhesive.
Cold Adhesive Method: Use a rubber squeegee to evenly apply a polymer-modified asphalt adhesive to the substrate surface. Then, install the membrane while using a rubber roller to expel air and ensure compaction. When the ambient temperature is below 15°C, use the hot melt method for overlapping and edge sealing.
Overlap Treatment: For long-side overlaps, the width should be ≥100mm for single-layer waterproofing and ≥80mm for double-layer waterproofing. For short-side overlaps, the width should be ≥150mm for single-layer and ≥100mm for double-layer. Ensure even adhesion without missed melting or coating, with excess hot melt asphalt or cold adhesive extruded to form a bead.
Inspection and Acceptance: After construction, conduct a thorough inspection to ensure the waterproofing surface is free of blisters, wrinkles, detachment, or significant peeling, achieving a smooth and aesthetically pleasing result to ensure the membrane's waterproofing lifespan.

Precautions

1. Basement conditions are complex, making proper edge treatment critical. Meticulous construction and sealing of overlaps (or joints) are essential to ensure the integrity of the waterproofing layer. Overlap seams are vulnerable areas and must be sealed.
2. Operators should not wear nailed shoes but instead use soft flat-soled shoes during construction.
3. For winter construction, select a membrane with low-temperature flexibility at least 10°C lower than the ambient temperature. Store the membrane above 0°C and move it to the site before use, avoiding damage during handling.
4. During hot melt construction, ensure the applied primer is dried for at least 4 hours (preferably until it no longer feels sticky) before membrane installation to prevent fire hazards. Adequate fire extinguishing equipment should be available on-site.

Packaging, Transportation, and Storage

1. The product is packaged in paper or plastic straps in rolls.
2. During transportation, protect from direct sunlight and rain, keep away from fire sources, avoid collisions, and ensure the packaging remains intact.
3. Store the product sealed in a warehouse in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from fire sources.
4. Under normal storage and transportation conditions, the shelf life is 12 months from the date of production.
